Setting up an Exchange 2013 mailbox on a Windows Mobile Phone

This article describes how to connect your Windows Mobile phone to an Exchange 2013 mailbox. Microsoft have a knowledge base article that will explain how to connect your phone to different mailbox types.

Step 1

On your mobile device, open the Applications List, press Settings then select Email and accounts.

Step 2

Press Add an account > Outlook.

Step 3

Press the Email address box, and enter your mailbox email address in the text box provided.

Step 4

Open the Password text box and enter your mailbox password. This is the password you chose when you created your mailbox.

Step 5

Press Sign In. Your phone will now try and connect to your mailbox using Autodiscover. This is enabled by default, but there are a few cases where autodiscover will not work.

If you are not connected to your mailbox after following the above steps

Autodiscover uses a DNS “CNAME” record to locate the exchange mailserver. If your domain name does not use Fasthosts nameservers then this CNAME record may not have been created. Follow the steps below to set up your mailbox without using Autodiscover.

If you want to create a CNAME record on your domain name to use Autodiscover, you should set the following CNAME record with your Domain Administrator.

 Host Name Points to
 autodiscover.<domainname>  autodiscover.1.exchange2013.livemail.co.uk

Step 6

On the Outlook screen enter the following details:

  • Email Address: Check that your email address is correct.
  • Password: Press Show Password and check that your password is correct.
  • Username: Enter your username in this text box. This is the same as your email address.
  • Domain: Leave this blank

Step 7

Press Advanced and enter 1.exchange2013.livemail.co.uk in the Server text box and click Add Account.

Step 8

Press Sign In. Your phone will now connect to your Exchange 2013 mailbox.
